The 21st Annual Polar Bear Dip to benefit the River Hospital was held on February 26, 2010. This was the 7th year Smitty has participated. Over the past years, he has attempted to tight rope across the chilly waters and remain dry as The Great Smitty Wallenda, he tried to part the seas and walk across as Moses, and he has attempted to freeze the waters and walk across as Jack Frost. Last year he was Smitty Knievel and attempted to jump the chilly St. Lawrence River and remain warm and dry. As in the past years, we once again had a frozen Smitty pop. In 2011 Smitty attempted to fly across the frigid waters on a magic carpet, but alas, Aladdin Smittys’ carpet was drained of it’s magic by the cold! So yet again Smitty was forced to brave the icy water! This year he was able to raise over $6,500 with the support of our vendors, clients, and friends. Overall, the Polar Bear Dip was a huge success again this year, the money will be used to purchase new equipment for the hospital.
